Well, here we are four posts in and I have not yet put up an
introduction to the blog. Those who know
me, probably know that this is pretty typical.
But, enough about that, let’s get to the intro.
What do I intend with my blog?
I am firstly trying to take the jumble of thoughts that
transition has created and try to impose some kind of order. The many new experiences I am creating for
myself as I try to navigate my gender need a place to be put and ruminated over
and fitted into my new self. It is
through this cataloging and thinking over of new experiences and thoughts that
I can find some control over where my transition is going.
Second, I want to help other trans folk, especially those
who are young and new to realizing they are or might be transgender. I spent a very long time resisting the idea
that I was transgender, and avoiding thinking about what I had to do to finally
be happy and live. I took so long to
come to terms with my gender and transition because I didn’t have enough
information. And so, I could not make a
rational informed decision. The
information I did have was out of date when I got it, and only got further from
the current state-of-the-art the longer I went denying that transition was
right for me. I don’t want any more
people to have to go through the many years of sadness that could, likely, have
been avoided had I known more.
How can this blog help?
I don’t know if it will or not.
What I think could be the
value of the blog is to allow more people to see that trans folk exist, that we
matter, and that examination of ones gender is not a thing that should be
avoided. We are just as human as anyone
else, and the world needs to see and understand that. We are not evil, we have a right to find our
way in the world and we should be allowed to try to find some happiness with
ourselves and with others in our lives.
To all the trans folk who may take a look at this blog,
please drop a line, leave a message and interact with me. I am on your side and I want to join with you
to find knowledge and solutions that make our life as good as it can be. It is only through this sharing that we can
take our place. I love you all.
To those questioning, please, ask your questions. If there is anything I know that can help I
will give it willingly. If I don’t know,
we can work together to find the information.
I don’t want any of you to get lost in wondering, when taking a little
time to learn about yourself can get you to a place of peace and
happiness. Please, don’t be like me and
hide it away, and refuse to look at it until so much of your life has passed
you by. Take charge, take my offered
hand, and get to your true and genuine self as soon as you can. (The operative words there are, ‘as you can’,
your path is yours and only you can know what you need, I can only try to help
you find your way)
To the cisgender people who come and visit here, please look
and listen and get to know us.
Respectful questions and requests for clarification will be honored, but
intolerance and hate will not. This is
not your space, it is for me and others like me. Here I will be talking about my experiences
and I will be inviting others to do the same.
You cannot tell us anything about our life, only we can find and make
our path.
I guess that is it for now.
More to come.
